Beastro review (soft launch)

Excellent. I was lucky enough to go to the soft launch of Beastro – and also sat at the chefs table. It was good to be close to the action and see what was happening in the kitchen. It all looked great.

We got to sample a few different starters and they all tasted good. Some of the things we sampled were the cod cheeks (yum), Lancashire leek and cheese crumble and also something not on the menu – some ham hock bon bons.

Fantasy Football – what a gameweek! 166 points! #FPL

Gameweek 37 team. 166 points!

I have been playing Fantasy Football for many seasons now – with mixed results but mostly I do fairly decent. Nothing like top 10,000 or anywhere near the very top but decent. Its got more popular as the years have gone by and now there are over 4.5 million teams in the league. When I first in 2006, I reckon there was about 500,000-1m – just a rough guess but I came about 80,000th overall.

Review of Vnam (Vietnamese restaurant)

Went to Vnam with a group of friends and had a good time and good meal.

As a group we basically shared a couple of the sharing platters (and someone had some summer rolls). Was just easier to order a platter. (Plus some prawn crackers).

We got the BBQ one and the salt and pepper one. Overall tasted good – hoped for a bit more salt and pepper flavour on the salt and pepper platter but it all tasted good. All a nice mixture of squid, chicken, prawns, tofu.

Umezushi is one of the best sushi places in Manchester. Maybe the best – although I have tried them all. It has won numerous awards including their chef Terry Huang winning the Chef of the Year award at the Manchester Food & Drink Awards 2016.

Big Little Lies review

What a great show! I started watching it shortly after it finished so binged watched it on 2-3 days. Not sure if you would call that binge watching as such since its just 7 episodes. I wasn’t too sure about it first couple episodes – it was good but maybe not my type of show. But now can’t wait till season 2. Hopefully there will be one – there are rumours there will be.

Its got a great cast – and thats what convinced me to stick with it. I liked how it was done with how you were left wondering about a key thing all the way until the end – although you did suspect and most people I am sure would have worked it out before the end.
