Blog post: London 2012 Opening Ceremony

I watched the Opening Ceremony – along with A LOT of other people – and thought overall it was really good. Don’t usually watch the Opening Ceremony as it goes on for hours – usually catch the highlights but this is different since its in the country I am from.

The standout moment for me was the bit with James Bond and The Queen. It was the actual real Queen. It was filmed in such a way that you were wondering if it really was the Queen and not some lookalike. She then turns around and says “Good Evening, Mr Bond”.

The Mr Bean bit was pretty good but was good to have him in as it was something everyone from around the World could understand. Personally I was happy that David Beckham played a bit part – I’m a big fan.

I thought Emeli Sande was excellent. She sang beautifully. The lighting of the cauldron/flame was different with the young athletes lighting it but it looked really good. I was thinking about how the British artist/band would be in the music bit. It was the Arctic Monkeys and Dizzie Rascal has a fairly big part. Thought it would be Coldplay but they must be busy??

One other thing I spotted. One of the people carrying the flag was a woman who’s job title was “United Nations Champion Of The Earth”. Wow, what a job title!! Would be great on a business card. Its like a superhero!! 🙂

Watching the Opening Ceremony made me proud to be British. It got me exciting for the Olympics and watching all the events. Looking forward to events such as the Athletics, Swimming and Diving.

Come on Team GB!
